Petition, ca. 1733.

Contemporary copy of a petition, ca. 1733?, from fifty-eight merchants (Thomas Giles et al. including John Hanbury, Thomas Flowerdewe, Edward Athawes and Thomas Lane) to the English House of Commons opposing a petition which had called for the prohibition of trade between the North American colonies and the French and Dutch colonies in the West Indies. The trade involved sugar, rum and molasses.
